7 Exciting Vegan Date Night Ideas to Make Sparks Fly

Date night can bring on a lot of pressure. You want to make sure your date has a great time while also ensuring it’s a reflection of who you are so you can both get to know each other better.

And it seems like date night as a vegan can seem to add even more pressure because it seems to narrow down the list of places you can go. Rest assured, though, there are tons of fun vegan date night ideas that both of you will enjoy.

While this list shows date night ideas for vegans specifically, you can always fall back on the trusty bowling or mini-golf options.

Vegan Date Night Ideas

Vegan dinner and a movie

This classic date night idea can easily be veganized, making for a great evening for you and your love interest. Try suggesting one of your favorite vegan restaurants or find one that neither of you have been to! Exploring new restaurants only adds to the excitement and, hey, you may find a new favorite.

When it’s time to head to the movies, I recommend planning ahead. While there are a small number of vegan movie snacks you can buy there, they are usually filled with icky chemicals and dyes. Stop by Whole Foods or your favorite health food store to pick up a couple healthy munchies to sneak in with you (shhh).

I love Justin’s Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups and YumEarth Organic Gluten Free Licorice. My hubby and I will usually buy water at the concession as our way of supporting them.

Go out for a sweet vegan dessert

Chances are there’s at least one vegan bakery (or a bakery with vegan options) in your area. Stop in and nom on some tasty treats. Try splitting a few desserts with your date so you can both taste more than one!

If baked goods aren’t your thing, how about some vegan fro-yo? Frozen yogurt shops are starting to carry even bigger selections of dairy-free options. So go ahead, hold down the handle on your favorite flavor just a little longer and top it with nuts, berries, and coconut to your heart’s desire.

If you’re lucky enough to have multiple vegan dessert shops to choose from, try doing a vegan bakery crawl sharing a dessert at each one!

Take a vegan cooking class

Put a spin on cooking a meal at home and find a local restaurant or culinary school that offers cooking classes for vegans. This is a perfect opportunity for you and your date to show off your cooking skills, which are oh-so-important when dating a vegan.

This is a great way to get to know someone and how well you communicate and work together. For that reason, I would highly recommend this vegan date night idea for anyone who’s in a new relationship or still going on their first few dates.

As a bonus, you discover a new recipe that you can make at home! That could even be another date night idea to recreate the dish you made.

Cook a vegan meal at home

Kick the romance up a notch with a candle lit vegan dinner at home with just the two of you. You have two options here. First, you can prepare the meal for the both of you, which can be a beautiful gesture and have an element of surprise for your date. Or you can cook together, just like you would at the cooking class.

This is a great choice for people who would rather skip the hustle and bustle of the outside world and spend one-on-one time with their date. My hubby and I often choose to spend time together at home because there are no distractions.

Put on some soft music and fall deep in conversation. You won’t have to worry about the waiter constantly interrupting you.

Create something together

One of my favorite dates I’ve been on with my husband is when we went to Paint A Dream and painted ceramic bowls for each other. We were celebrating our one-year dating anniversary and we still have and use those bowls five year later!

Making something for the other person definitely adds a level of excitement and surprise. It’ll also show how well you know each other.

As a vegan, what better idea than to paint some sort of kitchenware that you’ll get tons of use out of, like a bowl, plate, or mug!

Vegan Day Date Ideas

If you’re looking for a fun date idea to do during the day, try these!

Visit a farm sanctuary

This seems like such a natural date idea for vegans. As people who care about saving animals, why not visit a farm animal sanctuary that has rescued those animals?

This is a perfect “feel good” date where you’ll get to spend time with these loving animals who are able to live a happy and free life. Seeing how your date interacts with the animals can also be a good way to gauge how he might treat you.

Just make sure your date doesn’t have allergies, that’s a surefire way to stuff up a date—a tip from an allergy sufferer.

Spend time outside

Another date idea that seems to go hand-in-hand with being vegan is getting out in nature. Don’t ditch those cute flats though because being in nature doesn’t necessarily mean you need to strap on your hiking boots.

Take a stroll through a beautiful botanical garden or a park, taking the time to talk and getting to know each other. You can even pack a picnic and have a relaxing afternoon lounging on the grass.

Having a picnic in the park is also a much less intimidating atmosphere than a fancy restaurant, allowing you both to let your guard down a bit and know that it will be a fun and light-hearted date.

Wherever you decide to take your vegan date, make sure that it’s true to who you are so you can completely be yourself.
