Abuelita’s Crisp Green Beans

My husband’s mom and late abuelita are known for their amazing abilities in the kitchen. I’ve shared my mother-in-law’s unbelievable Thanksgiving Stuffing recipe. This time, a simple yet tasty recipe from James’s abuelita.



  • 8 ounces green beans
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • ¼ cup sweet onions, chopped
  • ½ cup shaved almonds
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • salt and pepper to taste


  1. Add green beans to boiling water for 3 minutes. Drain.
  2. In a frying pan, heat olive oil on medium heat. Add garlic, onions and almonds. Sauté until almonds are toasted.
  3. Add green beans to the frying pan and cook for 5 minutes.

Prep time: 5 minutes
Cook time: 10 minutes
Servings: 3
